"About halfway through my undergrad, I was feeling lost about my path through university to a future career I would enjoy. Denise helped me navigate the tough decision of switching programs when I knew that my current one wasn’t right for me. I can’t thank her enough for helping me through the process of exploring my interests, my best options, and the plan moving forward! I know that by meeting up with her I have saved myself a lot of money, time, and anxiety by having Denise help me through choosing a new program. She has been there for me for every question and concern, and has provided truly personalized and guidance that was completely tailored to my needs so that I can start on a path that will lead me to what I’m passionate about. "Dr. Thompson is an accomplished professor at Carleton University. As one of her students during my undergrad in Neuroscience, I found Dr. Thompson to be a professional and inspiring leader and mentor who has the natural ability to effectively engage and motivate her students. Her in-depth knowledge, strong communication skills and first-hand experience are invaluable in helping navigate through many critical academic and financial decisions facing prospective undergrad and post-grad candidates. I highly recommend NavEd Academic Consulting for anyone looking for strong and relevant guidance through the difficult process."

“Ashley was the instructor for my fourth year Honours workshop, a course which taught us something practical: how to talk to any audience about what we had spent the last four years learning. Ashley even went the extra mile to break down the process of completing a Master’s degree and PhD, so I would be able to make an informed decision about my academic future. The level of support provided by Ashley was a unique experience in my 5 years at university and I am forever grateful. Since the main skill Ashley taught us was how to ditch the jargon and get to the point, I know the information she imparts in the NavED sessions will be succinct, practical, and valuable. Once you get to know her, you’ll know you’ve struck gold!”

"Dr. Ashley Thompson was my professor in a 1st year Neuroscience course in the Fall of 2017 at Carleton University. It was then when I realized the immense impact a professor could have on their students. As a professor Ashley has the unique ability to transmit her energy and passion for the subject matter onto her students, meanwhile explaining concepts in the most accessible and coherent way possible. In addition to her flawless teaching style, Ashley is one of the most kind and approachable human beings I have ever met. Another exceptional quality is her ability to bring out excellence from her students. Thanks to this and Ashley’s guidance and undeniable support, I unlocked a sense of confidence and motivation in myself that I had never seen before, allowing me to reach specific academic goals I had, this is largely thanks to her. Ashley is an incredibly knowledgeable, patient and caring person, anyone would be incredibly lucky to get taught or mentored by her."

"On more than one occasion, Denise Johnston saved me from having to abandon my graduate studies due to financial constraints. Her expertise and insights introduced me to options I had no idea existed, e.g. bursaries and OSAP funding for part-time students. It only took one encounter with Denise for her to become my go-to person regarding post-secondary funding options. If you have questions and need help, ask Denise!"

"Hello! My name is Lia-Rae and I attend Conestoga College!

I am about to start my 2nd year into the PSI program (Protection, Security and Investigation). I hope to be a Corrections Officer or a surveillance investigator.

I got connected with Denise through an old guidance councillor at my old High School. I was in dire need of some guidance to do my OSAP application for my 2nd year. Thank goodness I was able to get in contact with Denise, we had an hour or so Zoom to get me started as well as information on how to finish my application. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and she answered everything and anything I needed help with!

She was very helpful, supportive and reassuring during the process and I 100% recommend her to anyone looking for help with OSAP applications. Thank you so much Denise, and have a happy rest of your summer."
